Originally from San Antonio, Texas, as a child I attended Macedonia Baptist Church under the biblical teachings of my late uncle — Pastor Roland Franklin. At the age of 26 I received my call to the ministry August 1987 at the Zion Hill Baptist Church of Waco, TX. For 3 years I served under the leadership of my father, Carl L. Buhl, Sr. in Seattle, Washington at Greater Mount Baker Baptist Church. I have been serving in the ministry since 1987 and married my loving, precious and supportive wife, Sheila M. Buhl in 1989. She is as beautiful on the inside as on the outside. To this union we have been blessed with a son.
The Lord has provided me with many opportunities during my stay in Seattle. In addition to serving under my father, God opened doors to advance my skills by allowing me to attend the Seattle Bible College for 2 semesters and serve as a youth pastor for 1½ years at the Mount Moriah Baptist Church of Seattle, Washington, Pastor John Coleman. After leaving Seattle under the direction of the Holy Spirit, the Lord gave me the opportunity to return to Texas. Following this transition, I attended the Institution of Christian Studies of Austin for a semester. I served as a member of the Sweet Home Baptist Church in Round Rock, Texas for five years and within that period I was called into full-time ministry as assistant to the pastor, Dr. Ronald J. Byrd.
God has ordered my steps with on the job biblical experience that I would have never received in a classroom sitting. In March 1996 the Lord directed and entrusted me with my first pastoral assignment to organize the One Way Baptist Church of Round Rock, Texas. I have been pastor of One Way for the last 9½ years. From the first service with 15 members in a small apartment, One Way has grown to accommodate a membership of over 700, exercising a vision to impact the community, the city and the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The One Way Baptist Church has been affiliated with the Williamson Baptist Association since 1996. It has been a blessing over the years to mentor and support new mission pastors of area churches. For the past 2 years I have been serving on the Board of Directors of the Round Rock Area Serving Center. I am truly grateful that God has given me the honor and privilege to serve His people.
